G. Krug and Son Puts Craftsmanship First
Craftsmanship has always come first at G. Krug and Son. For over 200 years, members of the Krug family have been mastering the art of metal work and providing the Baltimore community with beautiful wrought iron. Our customers trust us to supply the best quality work. What has kept people coming to G. Krug and Son for almost 200 years instead of highly-commercialized, or nationally-advertised companies? It's simple: our dedication to quality and craftsmanship.
At G. Krug and Son, we go the extra mile to ensure that our products are durable, safe, and unique. Sure, our competitors can provide a product that will serve it's purpose... for a while. However, none of them can provide a product that will be as functional and beautiful in 50 or 100 years as it is today.
When installing our products for your home or business, we take the time to weld materials together instead of using screws, bolts, or rivets. Welding is the appropriate method for attaching wrought iron. Bolts can become loose, jeopardizing the structural integrity or resale value of your property, and even your personal safety. Welding never becomes loose and ensures your satisfaction for long after your initial purchase.
G. Krug and Son hand forges the work right here at our factory in Baltimore and we take pride in our heritage of American craftsmanship. We support American businesses whenever possible. This means our components are of the highest quality and can be custom made to suit your needs and tastes.
Everything made at G. Krug and Son is hand painted with the finest quality primer and paint. Our competitors use powder coating, which is a process that can be outsourced to an inexpensive subcontractor. However, there are significant drawbacks to powder coating, primarily that it cannot be welded. Because powder coating is a thick, hard plastic, it is prone to chipping. Once powder coat chips, it allows rust to grow undetected until it has severely damaged the metal. A hand painted finish makes it easier for you to maintain the beauty and safety of your investment.
Work done at G. Krug and Son is made only from the best materials. Wrought iron is exceptionally durable. We avoid the use of fragile materials such as aluminum, plastics or synthetics in order to ensure your satisfaction with our product well into the distant future. After nearly 200 years of making fences, railings and ornamental iron we maintain an extensive inventory of historic finials and components which are exclusive to G. Krug and Son, and historic Baltimore.
Our master craftsmanship, unbeatable experience, and commitment to quality make us your best choice for iron work. While our history is uniquely linked to Baltimore, our products and services are available to anyone, anywhere.
